Hope Moravian Church Reunification Procedures and Guidelines
Hope Moravian Church Family,
We want to make you aware of the changes that will be occurring in order for us to gather again as a
church. The Joint Board has worked diligently and thought prayerfully to make every attempt to keep our
congregation safe as we resume congregating as a church family. Our services will have many changes to
our “normal” church routine. We feel, as your Joint Board, that by following these guidelines, we can safely come together again.
A) We will be holding two services each Sunday in the MOC. We have a layout that will allow us to seat
everyone who attends in a manner that allows for social distancing.
For both services, we will have hand sanitizer in multiple locations, but if you have your own, please bring it as well. All doors will be propped open, weather permitting.
* If you are not feeling well or have been in contact with this virus, please stay home and watch us on Facebook. It is recommended that you stay at home regardless of age if you have tested positive of COVID-19 or are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19. You will want to check with your doctor or CDC guidelines for proper timelines to return to social gatherings.
* Please follow the directions of the members guiding you.
* Please stay in the MOC/MOC restrooms only and keep your children with you as well.
9:00am Service – Face coverings will be required. We want to accommodate those who feel safer
with everyone wearing a mask. Please only bring children that are old enough to wear a mask. We
will try to have some masks on hand; however, we do ask that if you have one, please bring your
own.
11:00am Service – Face coverings will be optional.
Cleaning (cleaning the restrooms, wiping down the chairs, door handles, etc.) will be done in between
each service by our custodian and/or boards.
Arrival Procedures
1. When arriving to the church, please maintain your 6 feet distance from others not in your immediate
family. We will have tape on the sidewalks marking this distance in case there is a wait upon entering the
church. Plan to arrive early to allow time for all to enter prior to the service.
2. Enter through one of the two MOC double doors (north and south).
3. Once in the MOC a member of the board/Safety team will ask “How many members are in your family?”.
This will be done at a safe social distance.
4. You will then be directed to your seats according to this number. We ask that once you are seated,
please remain there (unless you need to use the restrooms) until the end of the service to maintain social
distancing.
5. The MOC restrooms will be open for use. Please keep to these restrooms only. Remember to socially dis
tance and wash your hands for at least 20 seconds! (No more than 2 people should be in the restroom at
a time unless all are in the same family.)
Service changes
1. We will not be passing the offering plate. The offering will be collected at a table by the entrance to the
MOC. There will also be a designated place for prayer concerns. Please remit your items upon entrance.
2. We will not have Sunday School, the Right Hand of Fellowship, Children’s Chat, Children’s Church, Nursery, choir, praise band, Snak-N-Yak, bulletins or Hymnals/Bibles. Please bring your own Bible if you wish.
Dismissal procedure
1. We will be dismissing by rows, from the back to front, following the conclusion of the service. We ask
that when your row is dismissed, please remember to maintain a safe (6 feet) distance from others.
2. We also ask that you not stop in the MOC hallway but proceed directly outside as soon as you are dismissed.
B) For those who still do not feel comfortable gathering at church, we will livestream our 11am service
through Facebook live on the church’s Facebook page.
C) You will also have the option of listening to the service via your car’s radio (with an FM transmitter like
the one used in the drive-through Easter experience in the cemetery) in the church parking lot.
Other church facilities/meetings
1. During this time of meeting in the MOC for our church services, the MOC will be closed for other uses.
This is to allow the custodians to clean the MOC following services and maintain that cleanliness.
2. Meal Site may resume (if the coordinator allows) but by carryout only.
3. Since Prayer Group and AA are such small groups AND meet in the Mission House, they may resume as
they wish. No other groups are to meet in the church buildings without prior approval by the Joint Board
(i.e. – the Indiana Primary election and the Red Cross Blood Drive).
We know that this is new and is not what we are used to; however, we feel that this is our best way to
keep everyone safe and still be together in our church. If you have any questions, please reach out to any
of the Joint Board members. We cannot stress this enough - if you are feeling sick or anyone in your
household is sick, please stay home. We have the Facebook live stream for this purpose. We want every
one to be safe and healthy!
Continued Prayers for health and well-being for all! God bless you all!
